International PhD Fellowship Opportunity
The group of Dr Evangelos Tatsis at the Shanghai Institute for Plant Physiology and Ecology (SIPPE) invites applications from young scientists to join the group as PhD students. The newly established group of Dr Evangelos Tatsis is part of the Centre of Excellence for Plant & Microbial Science (CEPAMS) a collaboration between the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the John Innes Centre (JIC).
Plant natural products have been used as therapeutic agents since antiquity and have played a crucial role in improving the quality of life. The fundamental goal of our group is to determine how plants make these chemicals. Our major focus is to elucidate, understand and engineer the metabolic pathways which are responsible for the biosynthesis of natural products from Chinese medicinal plants. To address these important goals, we have a genome enabled approach, utilising bioinformatics, molecular biology and enzymology techniques, with synthetic biology. Below are following some examples of our work:
We are seeking for young talented student with a strong background in Chemistry or Biochemistry eligible to apply for CAS-TWASFellowship. We are looking for talented, enthusiastic, hard working young scientists who are highly motivated to boost their research career in the general area of plant natural products biosynthesis. The chosen applicant will apply for CAS-TWASFellowship (deadline 31st March 2019) and is expected to start as PhD student in University of Chinese Academy of Sciences on September 2019.
Deadlinefor applications is 8th January 2019.
